CLIFF & RAILWAY CUTTING SPLINES |
Cliffs &
cuttings form a major part of the railway environment in most countries around the world.
Unfortunately, while TRAINZ terrain can include cliffs, the resulting stretched textures
and the inability to have cliff faces close together (to form "cuttings") make
this aspect of the TRAINZ route lacking in the detailed realism desired by many modellers
With TRAINZONE's range of 12 different
cliff textures (combined with the choice of sloping top or flat top cliffs) even an
inexperienced modeller can add amazingly realistic cliffs to their layout in seconds.
To reduce the unrealistic repeating pattern
that's common when using a repeating spline each cliff set has been created in 12
different connecting splines including both intermediate and end splines. By mixing the
splines and raising and lowing the spline points the modeller can achieve unique
variations in each of his cliffs. |

| Laying rail track in the real
world was at times a slow and extremely difficult task as engineers sought to transverse
very difficult and mountainous country. In many cases narrow ledges had to be cut along
the sides of deep ravines and gorges. As this was an expensive job the ledges where kept
as narrow as possible. Unfortunately TRAINZ Surveyor does not have the ability to lay
realistic narrow ledges. They end up unrealistically wide and with the stretched texturing
a high standard of realism is impossible to achieve. By
using TRAINZONE's narrow pre-tracked rail ledge splines very narrow ledges can be created
to add a much higher level of realism to your layout.
While the rail ledge splines can be used on their own, an
even higher level of realistic rugged-country scenery can be created when they are used in
conjunction with the cliff splines. |

THE
USE OF ALTERNATE TRACK
While we have tried to include a wide
range of available track with the Cliff Ledge Rail Splines it is realised that many
modellers will have different track that they would rather use.
This can be done by simply modifying the
track kuid number in the Config.txt file. The details for how to so this are are included
on the Download Page. |

| Detail is important to add
realism to any layout. Whether a rock covered field, a sea shore or a river, ROCKS are one
of the details that form a part of many nature scenes. As such they are a vital part of
many railroad landscapes. To achieve this effect we
have created a large variety of different rocks both in Static scenery items and Splines
that can be mixed and matched to provide each layout with its own individual and unique
presentation. |
